We are proud to say that Long Island Beauty School(s) is the first privately owned cosmetology institution on Long Island; serving Nassau and Suffolk counties with course curriculum in Hairdressing & Cosmetology, Nail Technology & Waxing since 1941.

Our Team

Anthony Civitano
Both of Mr Civitano’s parents were licensed hairdressers allowing him to have been a part of the Beauty Industry from a very young age. Working at his father's salon "Innovations" in West Islip, as a child and growing into a partnership in the salon with his father as a young man. Anthony's father opened a small cosmetology school in Bay Shore (Marcel Haigy School of Beauty) and in a few short years partnered with Mr. Frank Pappacoda and together they opened the Long Island Beauty School..
The business prospered and the school was then known as the Learning Institute for Beauty Sciences (LIBS). In June of 1992 Anthony started his career as an admissions representative at the Manhattan campus. After a year in this position, he decided to take the Cosmetology course to further his knowledge and acquire his State Board License. Mr.Civitano trained as a Financial Aid Officer while attending classes at the Manhattan campus and soon after took on the role of School Director.
In 1996, he transferred from the Manhattan location to the Brooklyn campus as School Manager overseeing all aspects of school operations including admissions, financial aid, teacher scheduling and evaluations. In 1999, Anthony purchased the Wilfred Beauty School located in Hauppauge and in October 2004 he purchased the Learning Institute of Beauty Sciences located in Hempstead. This young entrepreneur has since turned both locations into prosperous learning institutions. ..
Anthony holds a New York State Cosmetology license and is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS), also a member of the Cosmetology Educators Association (CEA) and is the immediate past President and currently the Director of the New York Beauty Schools Association (NYSBSA) as well as a member of the National Cosmetology Association (NCA). Anthony's passion for the industry is matched only by his desire to motivate every student to achieve their dreams in this tantalizing industry.
In the spring of 2008 Anthony purchased The Hair Design Institute located in the scenic parkside area of Bayridge Brooklyn.
Frank Pappacoda Jr.
Frank Pappacoda, the youngest son of Frank Pappacoda Sr., former owner of the Learning Institute for Beauty Sciences, grew up in the Cosmetology Industry. While pursuing his BSA in Administration at Lynn University located in Boca Raton Florida, Frank Jr. would spend his off time at the Hempstead campus of the Learning Institute for Beauty Sciences completing data input and helping with Financial Aid conversion software.
After graduation from Lynn in 1994, he became the manager of an auto financial company in Miami Fl.
In early 2000, Mr. Pappacoda moved back to New York and returned to work at the Learning Institute for Beauty Sciences. He trained as a Financial Aid Administrator and eventually advanced to management.
In October 2004, he purchased the Learning Institute of Beauty Sciences located in Hempstead NY, (now know as the Long Island Beauty School).
Mr. Pappacoda is the President /Owner of Long Island Beauty School, Vice-President of the New York State Beauty School Association, a licensed private school agent for Long Island Beauty School and a Member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools.
